Hey all The last month or so has been somehow a struggle for me, pokerwise! We all know the signs.... a few bad beats, poor decisions followed by what seems like a maountain of bad beats, lack of confidence, lack of patience and still worse decisions - and before you can spell d-o-w-n-s-w-i-n-g all you do in the tourneys is involving yourself in coinflips at best for the whole stack at level 1 or 2 of every tourney! At least I am like that sometimes.... Obviously, this leads to a downswing and though I have been a little more disciplined during this one, I have still lost more than 500€ during the end of March and the beginning of April. However (and ofc there's a good ending to all the sadness), This week has been the absolute opposite of the downswing. I am now suddenly super-confident, patient, takes the right decisions and do not let silly coinflips decide my tournament lifes ..... As far as I remember, since last Monday, my results have been as follows; Monday: 18:20 4K Guaranteed 10€ rebuy - 2nd place by 4-way deal 664€ 18:20 5€ 100€/2K Guaranteed-satellite - SEAT WON 20:00 2K Guaranteed 100€ - 7th place 171€ Tuesday: 18:20 4K Guaranteed 10€ rebuy - 7th place 159€ 19:30 2K Guaranteed 20€ Freeze - 3rd place 225€ Wednesday: Only played the OAK-Satellite and even though I never had a stack larger than 4K, I booked a 10K-seat! Friday: 20:10 8K Guranateed 10€ rebuy - 14th place 150€ 21:00 10K Guaranteed - 13th place 223€ Saturday (so far): 13:30 1,5K Guaranteed 10€ rebuy - 3rd place 290€ The good thing is that I honestly haven't played much more than these tours - ofc there has been a few other ones, but I suddenly feel on top of my game and ready to cash in whatever tourney I register Life is all better at the end of the tunnel - gl everyone at the tables! Hey all As indicated in the heading, I am really looking forward to the Champions League to really get going again. The winter break is such a pain, but it's all forgotten now . There are really more than a few exciting 2nd legs as far as I see it. The Barca-match vs Stuttgart should be a lock really. Even though they are challenged by injuries at the moment, Barca have to prove their class at home after admittedly having a lucky draw away. Of other good match-ups, I predict an intense affair for United when AC Milan drops by - even though it looks like a walkover for The Reds, Milan should not be underestimated and probably want to revenge their homefield defeat! Also Chelsea will be challenge against Inter. I sincerely hope that Inter can withstand the pressure they will get at Stanford Bridge.... Goooo Inter! Finally I really cross my fingers for Lyon - and quite frankly I like their chances. Having a 1-0 advantage going into the match against Real Madrid might not look that secure and probably isn't, but the thing is Real didn't manage to score in France which can prove vital! I have no doubt Real will produce a ton of chances and also score on some of them, but they also have a tendency to slip in at least one goal in the other end - if that happens (and I desperately hope so) Real have to make 3 goals themselves which might not be as easy as it sounds Pokerwise life is still good - even though I cannot get these OAK-sat tickets these days (and more importantly the €-points for the leaderboard), I win more than I loose. Thursday I finished a deep run in the 8K in 3rd place giving me an 800€+ prize.... And just another ago, I made a 3-way deal in the 40€ shorthanded for 300€+...... All I need now is making my horse avoid the badbeats it has experienced lately - he's playing really solid poker, but cannot make any serious attacks on the size of the BR. Hopefully it all turns in the coming days.... Until then - gl at the tables everyone! Whiteflag

Hey all... One or a few of my hundreds of loyal readers might have noticed that I actually missed the 4K yesterday even though I had more or less promised a three-peat. Guests (the poker players worst enemy) suddenly made it all impossible. Later in the evening though I made fairly good runs in the 8K and 50K - building reasonable stacks in both before getting knocked out - so all in all, yesterday was a non-profit Sunday However, It didn't take me long to regroup (boy, do I sound as Phil Hellmuth right now). In today's 10€ rebuy at 13:30 I went all the way and won it in a 2-way deal for 600€. It really feels good with all these nice results and most important, confidence is established - in my oppinion one of the most important things in poker, especially in the last part of the tournaments. Well - hopefully the good run continues throughout the holidays White

Hey guys & girls Yes, I know that some of you will be surprised to see a new blog already - but playing good and solid equals good results and when the good results are there, it is so much easier to report... A few years back, there was an English player blogging away - I believe his name was Ed Hollis and you might have followed him too. He was a very honest player who went on an unnatural heater and won a lot of money - and naturally blogging away alongside... However, the heating went sour and he started loosing (and loosing and loosing). The impressive thing though was that he kept blogging, telling about his downfall which was literally from millions of pounds to selling the house, borrowing money from friends and family to being absolutely broke! I admire this guy in some way, because it takes disciplin and guts to write about your own disasters! Anyway, things have been good lately, so fortunately I do not have to go the Ed Hollis-way just yet. I have just started my winter holiday (one of the good things about being a school teacher) and I started out Friday by entering the 4K Guaranteed 10€ rebuy at 18:20. It normally has about 200 players with plenty of Turks and Italians to be valuable. I made it to the Final Table and when we got down to 3 players we looked at the deal, which would've given me about 600€ - but the deal was not accepted by the CL. Soon after, I looked down at 77 in the BB. SB just called and I went allin, which he insta-called with 44. Bad thing was that he catched a runner-runner flush to bust me... Immediately hereafter, the two remaining players made a deal giving them both 800+ € while I was sitting with my 3rd place price of 399€. A bit of a downer after being so close. Needless to say, I had to try for revenge in yesterdays 4K. And it went well indeed since I won it in a 4-way deal giving me 700€. I think I played well in both tours, even if I was a little lucky in the last one just at the beginning of the FT. I was in 8th place and tried with an allin with AJ only to meet KK in the BB. However, the board showed five hearts and since none of us had any of these, we had to settle for a split pot . All in all a good couple of days to kick off the holiday and hopefully I can follow up with another nice results in the following week - one thing is certain though... You can find me in today's 4K at 18:20 - hehe... GL at the tables to all of you out there.... White

Hey m8s It's been a while now since my last blog and instead of keep apologizing, I might as well surrender and look at it this way; I write when I feel like it - sometimes it's a lot and sometimes it isn't But since I am now actually writing, I might as well start with my horse. Well, as you might've guessed, I am not really talking about some 4-legged animal, but another pokerplayer (and yes - of course he's also an OAKer). He was approaching me just after the x-mas holiday asking me, if I was interested in staking him. Now, you might know that I actually have quite a strict policy regarding loans and stuff, but eventually I gave in, since I'd had a really good holiday BR-wise and then I actually knew, that this guy's game is far better than average The deal was as follows (in short): I put in 500€ and he played tournaments only, with limits as to how many rebuys etc. in non-freezes and satellites. Max buyins were 20€tours. And how did it go? Well, it actually started out really bad - not that he played bad, but you know how it sometimes is.... I followed him a lot and he actually played really good, but was constantly badbeated.... As far as I remember, he was down to around 130€ but then suddenly he cought a break - and was on fire for 3-4 days.... It started with winning the 2€-rebuy at 19:45 for about 350€. Hereafter, he took 2nd-place by deal in the 10K for 2.300€ and the very next morning, he won the 10:30 WW for another 1.000€. After this we actually managed to place 1st (the horse) and 3rd (me) in a 10€ rebuy.... so in a period of a few days, we actually withdrew 1.750€ each! Not a bad horse at all.... I have to add that after this, the horse went on a downswing and went broke.... + loosing another 500€ injection. But all together, it was a profitable run indeed - and as I write this, it looks like we go for another season on the race track On the plus side of this project was/is of course the €s won, but as an extra bonus, I did really watch a lot of his games and got quite a few hands told before they were played (not when I was playing the same tours ofc) and I feel like this inside has really improved one part of my game - the mid-game. I have felt for a long time that I've been pretty good in building a stack as well as finishing off tours, when I've been lucky enough to get that far. But actually improving my stack in the end stages before the FT has really been my weakness. By watching the horse play, I really got some valuable pointers.... And they've worked for me. Just these last two days, I've been Final tabling a WW with 441 players (4th after losing allin preflop for monster CL with AJ vs A9), the shorthanded 40€-freeze at 16:00 and just an hour ago finishing 2nd by deal in the 30€-freeze at 13:00.... So everything is fine here. I really look forward to an exciting time at OAK with the return of the OAK Leaderboard - an event where I've battled the ever succesful BIG-OAK, who seems to be better than ever right now, so it'll be great fun. Good luck to all oakers in this race.... CU at the tables.... Whiteflag
